Since the first BMW X5 was launched in 1999, over 2.2 million have been sold, and in that time the model has come a long way. Now, the brand is set to launch the fourth-generation, offering supreme on-and off-road ability and premium comfort.
With a wheelbase 42mm longer than its predecessor, an increase in vehicle length of 36mm, an extra 66mm of width and a 19mm increase in height, the new BMW X5 has both an imposing appearance and offers generous levels of space for passengers and their luggage.
The model will be available with a choice of one petrol – xDrive40i – and two diesel powertrains – M50d and xDrive30d. BMW’s xDrive all-wheel drive system ensures optimum power delivery, by intelligently detecting grip loss and transferring power to where there is most traction.
The new BMW X5 features a two-section tailgate for ease of loading. If the optional Comfort Access is specified, both sections can be opened and closed electronically and hands-free. Boot capacity stands at 650 litres, or 1,870 litres with the 40:20:40 split rear seat backrest folded.
- Boot capacity: 650 litres
- Acceleration (0-62mph): 6.5 seconds
- Top speed: 143mph
